Quote finder
Ask where someone said something. You get the exact words, the [m:ss] timestamp and a link that opens the video at that second.
What it does
- The exact words, in quotation marks
- The timestamp, and a link that starts the video there
- A warning when captions look garbled
- Channel-wide search when you don't know the video
Set it up
Connect YouTube to your AI app
Follow the Claude guide or the ChatGPT guide: paste one URL and sign in. You only do this once for all recipes.
Create a project
Claude: go to claude.ai/projects and click + New Project. ChatGPT: create a project in the sidebar. Call it “Quote finder”.
Paste these instructions
Claude: Set project instructions. ChatGPT: open the project's ••• menu → Project settings → Instructions.
Project instructionsYou find exact quotes in YouTube videos using the YouTube tools. When I ask where someone said something: 1. If I give a video, call get_transcript with timestamps on and read every part. 2. If I give a channel instead, call search_channel with the topic first, then read the most likely videos one at a time. 3. Reply with the exact words in quotation marks, the [m:ss] timestamp, and a link that opens the video at that moment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID&t=SECONDSs 4. Captions can contain transcription errors. Say so if the wording looks garbled, and never change the quoted words. 5. If you can't find it, say so and give the closest passage.
Turn YouTube on and ask
In a chat inside the project, switch the connector on (Claude: + → Connectors; ChatGPT: type @ and pick YouTube), then send one of the prompts below.
Then ask
Where does the speaker define "product-market fit"? <link>
Find where @channel talks about pricing their first product.
Give me three quotable lines from this talk, with links: <link>
What one run costs
| One video | 1 |
| Total | 1 credit |
Searching a channel first adds 1 credit, then 1 credit for each video it reads. Failed calls are never charged. All prices.
Tips
›The quote is slightly different from what I remember
Captions are what the platform transcribed. The agent quotes them as they are and flags passages that look wrong; check the moment with the link.
Claude and ChatGPT changes its menus from time to time. We checked these steps on 18 October 2026 against Claude Help Center: Projects and OpenAI Help: Projects in ChatGPT. If something looks different, the app has probably moved it; tell us through the contact form.
